just wondering whether the pod filter material is ok for turbo engines? I know they breathe better but doesn't that mean more stuff gets into the oil and eventually will destroy the turbo bearings/engine bores? I've never really trusted k&N filters etc.

Paper filters in an airbox seem to be slightly more restrictive in air flow, but filter better. They also come out standard from the manufacturer.

Which is better????

Most types of filters will keep the junk out of the engine, K&N are the best you can get pretty much so dont worry about them.

I think the least restrictive quality filter you can get is the go, I would not hesitate about a pod on a turboed car.

pods are good for turbos or stock!

negative, a panel filter with cold air flow will flow more cool air into angine than an exposed pod fileter in the engine bay.

Pods are only good if shileded or out of the engine bay alltogether.

Pod and box with cold air intake and all good. works well for hondas and my old 2zzge corolla.. works better in turbos

Some cars with air flow meters dont like oiled, reuseable air filters. The oil sticks to the strip. WRX's are natorious for it!

But most custom setups dont run AFMs

yep, that's a common problem. its caused by over oiling the filters. its a fine line - too much oil and you risk coating the AFM's hot-wire and giving false signals to the ECU, too little and you risk poor filtration which is very bad news for your turbo's compressor wheel. Plus the foam oiled type need cleaning and re-oiling every few thousand k's - that gets real old real fast!

Whatever filter you go with you should have it receiving cold air from outside the car, not hot air from the engine bay, I never ran my pod filter on my turbo car in the engine bay.
