I reckon you would have a beast of a car, and the v6 is all alloy, so weight is not a mega issue.

As long as you have the bucks to throw around then go for it. I would imagine that it would be an expensive route to follow, but it would be awsome!

Go for it i reckon

Ummmm - the VN commodore V6 is all CAST IRON - even the heads! They are a heavy engine, although they fit pretty well as they are pushrod, making them more compact than a v6 with overhead cams.

if you do a search on the forum you should be able to find some pics of one fitted to a 1000 somewhere.

Certainly, you'd have yourself a beast in a straight line with all the torque of the 3.8! I don't know how it would handle though.

Good Luck

A V6 has been fitted to a few 1200 utes in Adelaide. and Im trying to fit one into a 1000 (quite a nice fit). They are damn heavy though.

Cheers. Adam.

save your energy they are horrible horrible engines, get a n/a V6 (VG30DE) from a 300ZX latest ones..they are cheap and all alloy. Still my SR20 is all alloy and pretty bloody heavy compared to a A15

Here's a vq30 from Adelaide Jap in Holden Hill. 3.0L version of the 350Z motor... according to the engine weight chart they're only 3kg heavier than an SR20. $2850 for a front cut sounds pretty good! They look fairly WIDE though.

so the power to weight ratio won't matter then? it would still have some grunt aye? and with going round corners too fast, is it just cause its light and a bad centre of gravity?
i am going to make it a sleeper, but keep the A12 to sort out the kinks first..

Good luck in geting it registered.
Unless the Teritory regulations are VERY different from elsewhere, there could be problems with weight distribution [balance front & rear] & engine capacity issues.
I don't know what the insurance situation is like there either but 'third party property damage only' cover should be a minimum before you even take it out of the garage.

Like others have said, should go like stink in a straight line, but much of the fun of our small Datsuns is their ability to whip 'round corners & general all round nimbleness.
