Has anyone ever transported cars over long distances?

I just rang Autotrans and am not entirely happy wit the service that they offer. Am going from Perth to Wollongong...

Thanks mate, Who is Autopol? I googled it and couldn't find it...

Yeah I think that I'm going with "TNT", who are now called "CEVA", they do pickup from house in Perth to Sydney depot, covered transport, takes 10 days for $1275.

"Autotrans" was good, $1050 for uncovered, but #### ($3380) for covered...

"Moving cars" was a rude B*&%# on the phone, and not helpful at all.

Tried a few others but the ones above were the ones worth mentioning...

The biggest problem that I have is that there is parts I want to transport too, but no one will let me have them in the tray... the other is that I would like to get it picked up outside of business hours... But I think that I will just have to deal with it as I have called everyone...

Na there is a box of parts like the original mirrors, manifold, lights etc, a tail gate, a metal grill (which is going straight on), original rims and a few other things... but no a12 (I already got a whole spare parts car so stay tuned for part sale soon)

I would let you drive it over but then I would need to clean it for a month...

for sending a ferrari

P.S. Its a Datsun so requires and deserves much more love than a Ferrari ever could wish for...

make shore they put a cover on it as the sun is harsh this time of year and bugs are paint eaters

but have you looked at putting it on the train ?

No one will put a cover on it, because its an OH&S issue, so I'm told. A few of the companies that I rang go the train.

But as I said I'm going with CEVA (was TNT), not sure on how it will get here but for $1275 it gets picked up in perth (open truck), then from Perth depot to Sydney depot its enclosed, I'm picking her up from Sydney, should be a nice drive home... will take it through the national park, over the sea bridge and then home... am looking forward to it...

I just got to organize the rest of the parts...

Ok so got the car yesterday. The transport Company was CEVA (previously TNT), It was picked up from Perth on the 7-12-07 and arrived at the Sydney depot on 18-12-07 (the expected date that they gave me was 24-12-07, so it was 6 days earlier).

It was from a house in Perth to Sydney depot. Cost about $1200 and was enclosed transport. The pickup in Perth was late and at first they weren't going to get there that day but the seller abused them and told them to be there (thanks). For some unknown reason the carpet in the floor was wet, enough to totally soak a book that was on the floor??? I'm sure that the seller wouldn't have left it like that, so it must have occurred during transport.

So in a nutshell I was happy with the time frame and cost, just not the service...

Had a nice drive down through the national park and the northern suburbs of Wollongong. Am very happy with the car...
