ignition question HELP!

hi guys just goin over my engine before taking it out to paint the ute. I have one problem , the engine starts first go every time BUT if i let go of the key it cuts out, If i hold the key in the start position it will continue to run perfectly????
does anyone know what this is attributed to???

Yes, it is wired incorrectly. Both b/w wires go to the + side of the ballast resisotor, and one goes to the - side.

Yes, the coil should get 12v at start, and ~9v through ballast at IGN position.
