The sss head has 42mm intake valves whereas the regular has 38.... so a quick check with the verniers can sort that out (as long as no one has swapped valves on you obviously). Cam lift is also different. SSS is 7.00 at the lobe for in/exh whereas standard is 6.65 (10.5 vs 10 at the intake valve).

Hope that helps...

was there an L16SSS? FWIW I know the L18SSS head should have 219 cast into it either beside the A87 between #1 & 2 spark plugs or under the timing chain inspection cover on the front of the head.

There was a 410SSS [or 411, I forget] a 510SSS & of course the 610SSS
Australia got the 510 [1600] & the 610 [180B] SSS models with twin carbs.

The 810SSS [200B] & some of the later 610SSS models came with the standard single carb engine in Australia.

Exactly...in Portugal we got lots of 510SSS...what is the stock HP of the 510SSS? the chassis id plate says 105hp...so it can only be an SSS...because the regular version has 95hp on the id plate....right? so let me get it straight...if the head says 219 next to de A87 mark...it is an SSS...this is the head to look for, right? thanks a lot...peace...

the H510 SSS had the L18 engine.

AFAIK Aus never got the 510SSS. We got the 610/180B SSS (L18 twin carb, 219 'SSS" head), A10/Stanza SSS (L16 single carb).

610 was never sold in Aus, and I don't think we got the 810/200B SSS locally either?
