bought a rx7 second generation few weeks ago to drift,but thinking back to the rx2 and 3 days ,toying with putting 1 in the 1200 coupe i'm sure some of you lads have done this ? need as much Data as possible,
and is it feasable would i get away with a bellhousing plate or just change the lot?

you would definately have to change the lot - the rotary would chew up and spit out the datto gearbox the first time you drop the clutch.

The sheer rpm capability of the rotary will need a mazda gearbox or a toyota supra style gerbox, the datsun gearbox will explode like a palestinian extremist.

Some of the quicks in IPRA have now changed to second hand Hewland(rebuilt) boxes from our V8 Super Car boys.They say the one off cost is still cheaper than all the constant re building during the season.

This has been the subject of some quite passionate debate over the years & the subject has two basic camps.
There are those who love the power & the noise they make, ... & those who see it as the virtual rape of a perfectly good Datsun by a heathen degenerate who should be burned at the stake.
