Sorry if this has been around already.
The '78 B210 (Brown) I picked up today in Oregon
has a 5 speed .The '78 I've been working on
has a 4 speed. What different parts do you need to switch them?
Also,anyone know what the differances
are between 49 state cars,& California spec cars?

was the '78 a 210? or was it still a b210?
is the 5 speed the dogleg type (1st below reverse?)
I THINK you can just swap the later 210 5 speed for the 4 speed, but don't quote me on it.

Just swap it out. You will require the driveline too!

The clutch slave cylinder is on the oposite side too.
One more thing, you will need to swap clutch discs as they are different also.

You will only need to change the clutch if the 5spd is a "63A". If your five speed is a "60" the four speed clutch will be fine. You may need to fabricate a new gearbox Xmember.

If it's a 60A or 60L (or 56A) series box driveshaft will be the same as 4 speed (length and shaft/spline). 63A 5 speeds have bigger shaft/spline at both ends (clutch and driveshaft).

63a needs the same yolk as the a-series auto boxes or the L-series manual boxes. I use a 1200 auto tailshaft with my 63a behind an L16.
