when the car sits for a few days it dosent start.previous owner says that fuel drains from the carbie and fuel filter. to get it started u have to suck the from the line to the carbie and reconect the line. it still happens if we leave the fuel cap off. any ideas?

If the fuel bowl goes empty, it is probably leaking out around the jet plugs. You'll find these on the outside of the carburetor below the sight glass. Carefully tighten them, just enough so it stops leaking. Not so tight that something breaks.

Fuel Leaks

When the fuel bowl leaks out, it takes a lot of cranking on the starter to get the fuel going.

We have this problem with my partners auto, except the engine is flooded so the carb is leaking internally. Could it be leaking at the ball bearing underneith the accelerator pump, or maybe the one under the injector weight? There is a smaller ball bearing and a larger one, which one goes where?

Is the plug stripped or the carb?
