ok so i have found what i need but a search on the net has not revealed where i can get one except from earles in the uk. is there somewhere in oz you can get these?

those things are universal, there is SAE Ford, SAE Chevy and Metric, more or less.

A lot of em come with all 3 types of screw in adaptor.

I think I used a ford type one, but don't remember now, it has to do with what oil filter thread your car has.

how can they be universal when oil filters come in different o-ring diameters and thread sizes?

Because there's really only a few different popular combinations. Datsun A-series engine uses the same thread and o-ring diameter as Ford 'F1' Filter. So you use the Ford Universal adapter. The Ford filter is larger diameter on the outside, so you can use the smaller o.d. Nissan filter on the Ford adapter.

Sandwich plate assembly will cost you about $60 and an oil cooler approx. 12" x 4" is about $250.

if you're doing an oilcooler setup, you really want a check valve to keep the oil from draining out.

They're not commonly used for some reason, but i wouldn't have a cooler without one.

and a thermostat of course!

it is for an oil cooler for a turbo set up that is going to get a hard time but also show quality. so it is going to loook nice.
