Tailgate Locks (What have you done ?)

The tailgate lock shown below is on a ute I purchased for parts, although its been a little roughly done I really like the concept.

They have used 2 X 1200 doorlocks and an exterior door handle

I would like to see some of the other ideas members have had and done to their cars.

it looks like they have used door catches is this correct, do you have a larger picture of the handle?

looking at that tailgate, and what a good idea,... ive been woundering how that was done,...
Great if you had a fibreglass lid to go with it, then makes it hard to the back when locked
does it work any good....

This car has a broken hinge on the tailgate so you have to lift it a bit, but yes it works great.

I think if I were to do this I would look at using later model door locks.

Put the catches (like the first photo below) on the body of the car, and a latch/lock (like the second photo below) on the tailgate.

By doing this you may be able to do away with the odd looking bracket that is currently welded to the body.

mine is electric remote release, just pulled it all apart again but yeh, works well. got the tailgate innards from a maloo and cut and changed bits. very stealth
