Not the AMC ones...

Had a perfectly running car yesterday, shut off last night, tried to start this am, no start, seems to have fuel, may be having a weak spark again, damn HV coils seem to last about a year... may need to get a better coil, these things aren't lasting very long...

Well I suspect it's the coil, everything was working and the coil seems to be the usual problem.

It's one of those accel 300+ CDI coils with their controller. Maybe I toasted it when the plug wire was fried and it it just finally died.

these things are so annoying...

hmmm...

barrowed my neighbor's batterycharger since the battery was getting low from trying to start...

hooked it up, set it to 35 amp, pressed start button... magically it starts...

seems I have a loose + battery terminal.
not loose enough to not crank however...

what a silly car!
I gave it a good smack!

Yeh loose battery terminals are funny. You can use the cars power for a few things but as soon as you put load on it like trying to start it. Its like it pushes the terminal perfectly 100% away from the post hence providing no power

it was so weird, it cranked fine, the ignition apparently wasn't getting enough power, though it works down to about 6v.

going to get a new battery terminal in a bit... there's a part i wish it was possible to get decent quality.

any good battery terminals out there?

The earth was good, though the crap lead connection had gotten perma loose, time for a brass one there too... Jammed some solder in it and pounded it back on, good for now.

I had the bad + connection problem, as soon as I replaced the crappo battery terminal with a nice brass one, magically things worked properly, and WOW! my A/F gauge started displaying meaningful data... odd that the EGT gauge wasn't affected.

I'm starting to like this car again... 4 hours ago i was really loosing hope.

If only it didn't leak like a sieve in the rain... Anyone got any lexan 1/4 windows made? I think I'll be looking for some soon. Tired of having deep water inside every rain. normally it doesn't rain this much in 3 years here.

Also got the battery strapped down finally, only took a year.
