got myself some RCA's and went to fit them this arvo ... and as you'd guess they don't !!
so after cursing, swearing etc etc ... i had a look at the problem ....
with the RCA kinda installed it fouls on the disc and also causes the steering arm to as well. the RCA's are 35mm thick and look like they'll do exactly what i want except for not hitting the disc.
i'm using stanza strut bodies and 240k rotors ... any ideas will be accepted with open arms

what does kinda installed mean?

I have them on 280zx struts and if you have the correct ones they can't hit anything since they are the exact same profile as the strut tube where it attaches to the ball joint.

can they be 180'd?

What are they doing that hits the brake disk where normally the steering lower arm and ball joint don't hit the disc?

its not the width of the RCA that makes it hit, its the fact that its pushed the steering arms down into the path of the disc

its really easy to see the problem if your looking at it

which lower arms and ball joints are you using?

or is this why people lathe down the disks?

no that doesn't help does it...

It's hitting closer to the center or where?

do you have camber plates?

i'm using stanza control arms, stanza ball joints. also cusco camber plates ... none of this affects the steering arm in relation to the disc and the strut body.
its hitting the disc near the inside shoulder ...
i'll try get a pic to explain or show it

Yeah in the center that's what i was what i figured after thinking on it.

that's either a natural limit to how much RCA you can get or maybe it's grinder time if you can relieve the control arm a wee bit. Unless lathing the center of the disks sounds more appealing or a little or each.

I'm using the late 210 LCA's and ball joints, I think about the same thickness RCA, it's really thick.

mmm looks like grinder time or some hubs that space the disk out some more... means a lot of stuffing around unless pigdog wants to donate the gtr set up for the weekend

do they stay in line with the profile of the ball joint and where strut mount up or do ther stick out a bit more, last one i saw stuck out a little so grinder relif would work ok

does it foul by much? Can you shorten the RCAs a bit so it clears?

they fit great with the steering arm ... couldn't get the rca to fit up fully with the dtrut but looked like it was going to be a great fit to ... just that its hitting the disc ... not quite sure the grinder can fix this one either, due to the angle of the stub axel i think this is where the problem really lies ... if i could space the rotor out from the strut this would also fix it but would widen the track to ...
