Welcome to the forum, you have come to the right place, but perhaps i can offer a couple of points to help out.

Turn off the caps lock. It makes it appear that you are shouting.
Include some basic location details in your profile so we know which country you're in.
Tell us which version of the A12 you have. Is it a 1200 car engine with the distributor at the front, or a later one, from 1974 onwards with the distributor towards the back? The later engine uses a dipstick tube & a longer dipstick while the 1200 engine has a drilling in the block & a shorter dipstick.

What car is it from? Some models in some countries used this engine in front drive Cherry models & they have a deep alloy sump, so I guess they use a different dipstick again.

The USA never got the A12 engine from 1974 onward, so if you include some location details we can often figure out what you need. If you are in the US, I would know immediately which engine you have. [the early one]

So throw in some additional details & help us to help you.

For a USA model A12 engine without a dipstick tube and just a hole in the block The length of the dipstick is 9 1/16 inches
This particular example is from a 1972 coupe and or sedan motor and is measured from the bottom of the rubber stopper, it is an even 10 inches from the top of the hole drilled in the block.

Kelmo

Edit: Just read your reply to Dodgeman, and it would appear the info I supplied will not do you much good , sorry

Ahhhh, South Africa. We have a number of good members over there so hopefully that will make themselves known to you.

In South Africa the 1200 passenger models [Model B110] were continued in production untill 1976 or '77 instead of being replaced by the 120Y type car [Model B210].
The new engine design with the distributor at the back was introduced to the rest of the world in 1974, but one South African member has the original front distributor engine [early type] in his 1976 built car, so one of two possibilities exist.
You have a very late built car that got the new engine when stocks of the old one ran out. [assuming that such an event actually occurred]
You have a car into which a later engine has been switched.
Compare the engine number on the engine itself with the engine number stamped into the vehicle ID tag in the engine bay to see if you have the original one.

The seemingly common Bakkie uses the same basic engine that you have, so if you are missing a dipstick, try sourcing one from just about any wrecker that has these models. The early dipstick is actually a round section rod & as we know, is 10" long from the rubber flange to the end.
The later dipsticks tend to be made from flat material & are a fair bit longer than 10"

Hopefully that helps.
