Got a r31 28 spline diff with 3.9 gears and an open centre. It has not been modified to suit a datsun as yet, its stock.

Asking $400 complete disk to disk without handbrake cable.
Location southside of brisbane.
Any questions, give me a pm. No time wasters please.

did r31 skyline come with 28 spline
and the rest of the r31s come with 25 spline?

and any idea if the carrier and pinnion gear would fit a ford or holden bg housing???

Skyline came with 28, pintara came with 25 spline.
The centre and gears will basically fit any borgwarner diff, including commodore and falcon diffs.
The 3.9 gearing is quite popular for commos and falcs and go for 250 plus on their own.

you can buy whole skylines for less than that

im not worried bout the gears cause i have 6 sets of gears and the 3.9 is to high for me to use
i need to know if the carrier will bolt up to ford or holden housing
i would use your carrier breaks llines etc
with my crown wheel and pinion gear and axles that are alredy shortened

yes all 28 spline BW centres are the same

what are you planning on using your car for if 3.9 is too high? and if you have 6 sets of gears why do you have no centres?

i have a 4 speed manual and i want to do some highway cruising for a while.....it will rev to high like it already is
id put 3.9s when i take to drags but want to do some cruising for now but i spose anything will do for now cause my diff is noisy as and want to get the stronger setup in

all 6 sets are on 25 spline carriers but been told i can use the gears on a 28 spline carrier

Not all 28 spline centres are the same. The carrier for the 2.77:1 carrier is on it's own and the rest interchange. I am not sure if the 4.11:1 gears will fit on the 28 spline centres as the crownwheel thickness is massive.

The 4.11 go into commodore diffs so they must go on 28 spline.
If 3.45's go on a 25 and a 28 you would have to conclude that the external dimensions of the carrier are the same, eh?
Plus many people use the pintara gears in a skyline housing to get a bit more zip.

And pigdog, beleive it or not, the 3.9 and 4.11 ratios are fairly uncommon borgy ratios that only came in the r31, so if you can get a r31 for $250 you would be dumb not to grab it for the ratios. Go to a diff shop and ask for a set, and see what they are asking.

The other thing to consider is why would you want to buy a whole skyline for 250 and have to drag it home on a tow truck when you only want the diff out of it? The rest of the car is not worth a pinch of sh!t.

I would take the $250 car anyday, pull the diff out without taking it home, then call scrap metal and get $100 when they come and pick it up.
