I was talking to a friend about this last Sunday. It seems CAMS have allowed the A14 with the stock crank. No A15 cranks allowed. My friend mentioned something about an overbore, but he couldn't tell me for sure how much. They have also changed the capacity limit for Class A from 0-1300cc to 0-1400cc. So my friend is going to build up an A14 (he already has 2 spares), with a capacity of 1390 cc, using the cam, head, carbies etc he has on his existing A14, which sounds like an 80mm bore A14(it's 1550cc's). we came to the conclusion that CAMS realised people were spending heaps of money on A12's when they could get the same thing far cheaper by allowing A14's. My friends going to get restricted rego for his car so he can do rally's, because he's bored with Khanacrosses.

No, i think you should see about getting some flat top 76mm pistons. My friend was saying the overbore was only 60 thou, or it might even be 0.6 mm, he wasn't too sure. Anything bigger than 76.5 mm would put you into 1401-1600 cc class, but i think the regs say you have to stay in the same capacity class. Maybe 1200Rally can check this out.
Dundee, I pointed my friend in your direction as the one to try & get some flat top A14 pistons, hope you can help him.

I just checked the CAMS website & the wording is as follows
'CAPACITY: A maximum of a 17% increase in capacity over the original/recognised engine is permitted,or alternatively, a substitute engine which keeps the car in the same PRC capacity class as it would be with the standard specification original/recognised engine may be permitted. The standard stroke muct be retained. It then goes on to say 'Add A14 to the "Approved PRC Substitute Engines" table for the Nissan/Datsun B110 and P210 as follows:', then it shows a table listing the A14 as a substitute engine for both cars, as of April 1st 2008.

This has to mean stock bore, stock stroke A14.
I've been trying to find out if there is a capacity allowance like Improved Production, which allows 1608 cc's to be 0-1600m but cant find it.
Even a 0.5mm overbore puts you over 1400cc's, but only but 10cc's(1410cc's i think).

The CAMS bulletin is B08/029, it's inder the heading Group 3C - Production Rally Cars (PRC) Substitute Engine Capacity. I'd suggest you carry a copy of it around with you when you first go to scrutineering with the A14 in, there's sure to be somebody who didn't get the message.
