Hey all i want to put a ford escort diff into my 1200 as i know of one with a lsd for cheap but only problem i see is the stud pattern of 100x4 opposed to datsun stud pattern of 114.3x4 i was wondering how you would go about converting the stud pattern on the escort diff to the datsun one? is it as simple as doing some re-drilling?

any help would be greatly appreciated .

cheers jake

You may be able to redrill the hub and use a datsun outer drum, but thats just an idea?

weld up the stud holes, then mark the new pcd and redrill the holes. simple!

or if you wanted to do it without welding, get some new hubs made up. Easy

For the money you will spend on it I would go that little bit extra and get a R31 skyline diff modified or even hilux. As most guys with an escort end up doing an hilux conversion anyway as their diffs are equally as crap. Unless you are getting an escort lsd so cheap. The sell it at a profit and put the dosh to a decent conversion.

escort diffs are pretty strong for what they are.
Havnt got any figures on strenght as the ford guys arnt as organised as the datsun community lol.

However i have seen many escort diffs used in 1200 rally/track cars here in nz, actually probably more than the h165 "ute" diff.
