Well, once again an eBay description with an error or two.
The description reads, ................................

Datsun 1000 Coupe

Original condition runs well
1967 model
63000 miles
3 speed manual column shift

Pretty close but it's not a coupe of course, it's a 2 door sedan & it would appear that it's a 1967 model with its 3 speed column shift trans. If it still has the original 1967 grille & headlight rims, then it could well be a good score at the current price of about $800

is this guy on crack or did they actually come with a column shift option? Ive never heard of such a thing in a b series datto! Always assumed they only ever came with the 56 4 on the floor

No Chris thats right,all the earlys came 3 on the tree

The four speed was an available option for the 1967 model & I believe that the car that Lagwagon had was one of these.
It had a later grille, but the early steering wheel & a 4 speed. He sent me the chassis number & it was most definately a 1967 model car. From correspondence with him it looks like it came from the factory as a 4 speed.
It would seem that the vast majority of Aussie spec 1967 cars were 3 speed but some 4 speed models came in as well.

I can hardly imagine that the Class 'A' winning 1967 Datsun 1000 at Bathurst in '67 had a 3 on the tree.

For Dodgys benifit i shall re phrase.
Chris approx 90-99% of earlys came with 3 on the tree apart from a few that came in optioned with a 4 speed.
These included those used by the Australian Datsun Racing Team (John Roxburgh Datsun) in Sth.Melbourne at the time,and where i was personally involved.
Hope this clears up my off handed comment.

Looks quite rusty on the bonnet and have to be careful of the front chassis rails which suffer on some neglected b10s with leaky batteries and radiators.
