People Im after some ideas for the exhaust on my 1200 Coupe with a CA18DET and input on what others have done.

WA Transpost has stated my exhaust does not comply with the new regulations released last month for exhaust systems as it has inadequate clearance. Must have a minimum of 25mm from the underside of the body in all places. At points like above the CAT and near the rear shock obsorber I have only 10 - 15 mm.

I have a 2.5 inch system. A high flow CAT is under the passenger footwell, A Resonator before the diff, the pipe goes over the diff and has a cannon muffler at the rear. Custom rubber mounts have been used and despite the low clearances the system can not hit the chassis or any components on the vehicle.

I feel it is bloody hard to install a modern style exhaust system on the 1200 coupe given the design and size of the original vehicle.

So my question Is for others with the CA transplant. How did you make your exhaust and how much clearance did you end up with?

Sadly it looks like I will have the expense and pain in the arse of making a 1.5 inch system with all new components to satisfy the beurocrats.

Cheers - Because I need a drink.

why not a twin 2 inch after the cat to the rear muffler then use the same muffler at the rear. should still push out more air than a single 2.5

Maybe use a reducer after the resonator to allow running smaller tube over diff to a different muffler.Throw the CAT away!

Probably cant throw the cat away because the ADR's that came out on the year of the engine probably state that it has to have one...

mine is 2 1/2" with a cat and a muffler it is fairly quiet but has a nice note and is legal. it good cos doesnt draw attention. probably a little restrictive though.
