what is the tare weight of a ute?

hi guys im just interested in knowng the tare weight of a ute, seeing a work mate put a 5l holden motor in his hilux legally has given me ideas

I've been told there about 720kg in standard form... could be wrong however...

The glove box manual lists it as 720kg kerb weight

why?, with transplants, it goes by the tare weight of the sedan, but i thought 690kgs for ute,

I know you asked the question... 'What is the weight of the ute?'

But, I was just curious as to what Ideas were you tossing around? Cos the hilux's are totally different.
They have a full chassis for starters and this allows them to have (almost) any engine engineered.
Power to weight does'nt really come into play as far as I know.

As for the weight of the ute, I think It is about 720kg's.

If it's '72-'74 model it will go off the weight of the wagon. Tare weight for engineering is calculated off the heaviest variant of that year model.

My rego papers on the ute I just sold also had the tare weight as 690kg, and it's a '79 model, so I'd stand by this.

The utes weigh 690kg but for engineering purposes they take the heaviest model in the range which is the coupe at 720kg.
