easiest way turbo or supercharger
dont bother trying to get that much power by going NA unless its a full on racer and how you said no turbo or super i take it you are a p plater do your self a favour and save up and buy a complete 1200 gx motor ready to bolt in it will be more then enough power for you
the 1000 sedan is around 620kgs very light you do not need that much power to have fun my wagon has a gx motor clutch is gone and a not so good tune and it gets upto 160km's easy

The cheapest way would be to put it on the back of a tow truck with 100rwkw.

yeah im on my p's to
i havent seen a full complete original gx setup for sale for a while but the induction (carbs manifold linkages etc) have been selling recently for about 400 and the heads go for about the same price
now just for a refrence i bought a 1000 wagon a few months back it came with an original gx motor and i spose you could say i bought the motor and got the car with it for free i payed $1000
an alternative would be to wait it out with your a10 till a mildly worked a series comes up
also include your location details in your profile by going to the menu on the side and go to view account then to edit profile and add your location details

Chris just a baseline: here in the U.S. A12's are still used for Sports Car Club of America national races. They buzz them to 9500 RPM's and the engines make 100HP at the wheels (135-140 flywheel). these engines require rebuilding every 6hrs of running time. 40-44mm webers , 14-1 compression, camshaft specs are roughly .500ish lift / 310 degrees of duration and generally won't pull until 5800 RPM's.

A weber 32/36 carb, header (extracters), 2 inch exhaust, good valve job, a moderate cam (GX spec) and mild clean up of the post would likely get you to about 90HP (flywheel) or so. 90HP would drop likely 2 seconds off the 1/4 mile time, the stocker is only 68HP. If you shop carefully you could do the above mods for round $200-300.

Hey Chris,

Welcome to the club and well done on the purchases. These were the cars advertised on car sales?

2 Four Doors and a Ute for $1200? Well done a good buy indeed.

The four door is what I first had when I was at uni in South Australia. Now I've got a 2 Door sedan- yes shipped all the way up here. The 1000 community is starting to get pretty big now!

An A12GX setup would keep you away from having to make some big changes to the diff (torque is still relatively mild).

You can also fit the flat top pistons (form the A10) into the A12 using an A14 crankshaft (to compensate for the longer stroke/throw).

- Get an oval port head(revhead has one for sale).

- Make some extractors.

- Electronic ignition (E15 Pulsar Distributor).

- Get the cam ground to a suitable profile (My Preference).

- Fit a 32/36 carby and start from there.

Thats about AU$350-400 worth to be on the safe side. The head doesn't really have to be oval port just yet so you can leave that out.

In the meantime build another engine up with sideraughts or forced induction.

I'm putting an A14 in, getting a H150 diff to accomodate the extra torque.

Cheers,
Chris
