Hey there, I'm fixing some rust holes in my datto and have cut some neat square holes to remove it, then applied rust converter. I was going to hire a welder and weld up the holes with some metal. But before I do, what things have other people done other that welding and stuffing around with cutting metal to size and hiring a welder, is there some other way to do it so it lasts a long time? I did bog last time but it only lasted 2 years. Cheers

I've heard good things about POR15 and KBS coatings - am planning to use one of them on the boy's rusty 'rana - so I'd be able to tell you in around 3 months.....

Fibreglass cloth applied with POR15 from the inside, when its all set skim of bog over the top, its not the proper way to do it but if you have cut the rust right out then it wont be coming back through the POR15.

As far as i'm concerned you can't go past fresh metal welded in and then plenty of rustproofing - a coat of primer or rust converter and a coat of fish oil; reapplied every year or so.

Iit's a painting system that has a really immaculate durable finnish one it's dried. You do have to protected it from uv rays but if it's in the engine bay that's not really a concern.

POR15
