ok,
went to start my engine the other y, it has been sitting for 2 years or so unstarted.
it is an a12gx w twin hitachis.
now, it cranks, has spark, has fuel maybe.
i can squirt some juice into the carbys and she will fire up and runs for a tick, then stops.
its filling the bowls up with fuel, if i take the little hose of the bottom of the carbys and crank it, fuel squirts out, but it doesent seem to wanna drag it into the carby.
hitachi gurus help please, before i throw em in the bin and put the quads on instead.

If it's been sitting for 2 years all the jets in the carbs will be blocked, unless you drained them before it went into storage. They shouldn't be too hard to pull apart and clean.

where bouts? theres not alot to these things

if we are talkin about the bit down the bottom that sticks up the arse of the carby, then that is all clear and free of gunk.

Like the others said just make sure from the fuel bowl through to the jet is clean. If you don't have a choke they can take some cranking. Also wind the jets down on the bottom of the carbys 2 or 3 turns from the top. This will make sure its plenty rich enough to fire easy.

Do the carb pistons rise & fall, or has the lube dried out & stuck them in the full down position. Stick your finger in there & see if they lift easily & fall without binding.
Throwing them in the bin says alot more about your ability as a mechanic than it does about the carbs.

Go on, give them a proper clean, make sure everything works properly & you'll love 'em

yes the pistons do rise and fall, and they have oil. i have pulled them down 3 days ago and given every bit inside a very good clean with some carby cleaner.
