hey guys, i have recently heard that there was an a series "sports head"
i have been told that they are as good as a GX head. Does anyone have any information about them? do they exist?
does anyone have one?

Yes, Datsun Competition (USA) and Datsun Sports (? other countries) sold a head very similar to the GX head but with the larger A14-size valves. They called it a "competition" head.

Your guess is as good as mine.

The GX head doesn't have a high-compression chamber, it is same size (or slightly larger) than regular A12 head. The GX compression comes from flat-top pistons.

I'm told that the comp heads have a raised bulge above the intake ports, (under the rocker cover) to allow for taller porting. There IS a pic of one somewhere, but f### knows where.
