What do people recommend as a good running in oil for a CA18DET.

With the Ford a mineral oil was the choice - something like Castrol GTX3.

Will be putting oil in the motor in the next week or so - so interested to hear your recommendations.

I used Castrol 'running in oil'. But anything non-synthetic would be fine. I'd recommend a 1/2 synthetic after that, then full synthetic from there on.

Don't use full synthetic for the first 1000kms. My brother did on his L-series 2.4 back in the 80s....it never stopped smoking. It was a twin 48mm DCOE weber smoke machine.

Cool - I'm down at Supercheap/Repco/Burson - whatever tomorrow. I'll see what I can find.

Castrol Running In will be my first choice.
