i have a problem with the idle on my ca. when i stop or pull up the revs drop really low car almost cuts out or does. cant find anythin in manual or on net that helpful so looking for some advice. ive been told you need to adjust throttle sensor and idle screw and get a readiing from the pins on sensor or somethin. but cant find anythin that supports this theory. any ideas would be great cheers

pulling up to the lights and stalling...

sounds like the idle passages might be blocked, and the poor AAC valve cant open far/long enough to raise the idle under load.

A quick test is to start the car, and remove the connector from the AAC valve (fat green or brown solenoid valve on the idle control block). The revs should not drop much. if the car is struggling, then try to adjust the hexegon nut on the idle block, until the revs raise to 700-800rpm. Then reconnect the AAC valve connector.

It would be best to carefully remove the Idle control block (as I call it), and give it a complete cleanup.

could also be a hole in the booster, if you have one.

You could run fault diagnosis.

i unpluged the acc sensor which was a red plug onto a brown socket about half way up intake on right side? revs drop dramatically then i try to adjust the idle sensor black box on right side of intake at front? it either cuts out or hardly changes revs until i plug acc back in. seems a bit crzy.

hey the black box at the front...I didn't say adjust that!! put it exactly back where you found it.

find the 10mm hex on the back of the idle block where the idle and a/c solenoid are.

turn that!!

You got the correct connector, and the low idle explains that your base idle is wrong. The base idle changes when the idle passages fill up with blowby crap from the turbo.

fix the TPS (black box) into it's original position and find the 10mm hex I was talking about.

This happened to me recently but it was because I'd adjusted the throttle body butterfly to be almost closed on idle (using the screw) so the engine just stalled with no throttle. just opened it up untill i got the right idle when warm. a vacuum leak will give a crap idle too.
