Just wondering what the differrence is between the DE and the DET gearbox. I'm trying to track a box down for my 1200 ute and seem to only be able to find DET s up in Brissy at the moment?I had herd the DET were a bigger box, trying to minimise tunnel mods. ???

1200 what? ute seden coupe

either way ur gonna have to hammer the tunnel or cut it out, so it dnt matter what way u go for with tannel mods,

but for gearboxs i would go det coz they wouldnt make another one from de to det if it wasnt gonna be stronger.. the ca18det is the same box and cheaper just i think different bell housin and different 5th gear ratio..

i got a stumpy gearbox in my ute which all i did was massage the tunnel enterance and also cut out the old gearbox mount and hummerd each side for little more clearence incase the gearbox gets sum flex which it should if done right,

Thats what it says on SAU. If you dont NEED a twin synchro box you should be able to use a ca18de, late fj20, rb30, rb20de box with an SR bellhousing.

turbo sr and NA boxes are identical. same ratios same synchros same everything. it cuts costs for nissan to make one box instead of too. and the box is affordable even to handle the turbo for them so why not just use it in the NA too. if you find an NA chances are it might not have had such a hard life, but they arent very common, and then even if it is an NA box the importers sell them as turbo anyway. NA flywheel is 20mm smaller in diameter than turbo. and therefore use a smaller clutch.
