hi guys
got a hilux diff to cut down but it appears the step down in the axle is too long to recut the splines.
does anyone know if a hiace axle is longer.
how have other guys got around this problem?
dont want to run oddball offset wheels or tub or flare guards

I dont know bout hiaces, i do know they run the same type of diff tho. You can get strengthened rear axles for lux housings though.

Locktup 4x4

Trail Gear is one of the best brands around in the 4WD world and locktup is the sole importer!

the really early hilux 2wd utes have a thinner track, and are really popular with the mazda RX boys as they are plenty strong enough and dont require much to cut them down to fit.

if this one is too wide, then that might be an option

im thinking ford 9" housing ends and cut down 9" axles
problem solved
early lux is still not short enough for 1200 and later ones arent long enough to cut due to necked down area next to spline
dazza

lockedup are 6 stud axles and i would have to custom order width so $699 + + + = ?

I am sure that Driveline Services have a branch in Perth now. If so have a talk to them Re: diff and shaft issues. Most of their blokes know their stuff. Might help
