Hi Fellow datto lovers. Hope you can follow this one. We have an A14 in our 1200 coupe we have put a 56 series 4 speed from a 71 1200 sedan in it and put the tail shaft in that was in the coupe with a 60 series 5 speed. It all bolts in but the problem seems to be that it is about an inch short of sealing with the dust seal thingy so we have oil coming out the rear of the box where the tail shaft slides in. Anyone got a quick solution to this ? We were planning on running it in for rego this week.

Good Question and the sedan has gone to the scrap metal so cant compare the sedan was a manual and im guessing the coupe has the auto diff but cant confirm that. Am thinking it could just be the rear seal in the box leaking. My latest sedan has a different diff as the back plate bolts on and the coupe one doesnt. Oh and PIGDOG i took pictures of the petrol flap release setup from inside the rear quarter for you yesterday if you like i will send them to your hotmail.

so all you have changed is the gearbox?
diff and tailshaft are the same as what was in it with the 5 speed?

if thats the case i cant really see why you would have a gap in there....coz as far as i know the gearboxes are the same length

Mmm it is common for there to be a bit of play back and forth in my experience but this seems a little to much plus i always assumed that the dust thingy sat against the seal but i could be mistaken. Just ordered a new seal from Repco $9 cant hurt ay ?
