Someone uncovered this just recently.
It seems, that the answer is yes, but with a conversion kit.

It will fit an A12 engine without using a conversion kit. A12 and A15 engines use the same transmission bolt pattern.

Because they are a linkage type box. The shifter isnt straight into the top of the box. It works off a series of linkages for the remote operation from a van.
