hi guys im just wondering what a series parts are interchangeble with each other.
im building an a15 but dont have everything.
do the crank caps interchange from a12 to a15?
oil pumps
and with the a12 head how far can you port before having to fix her back up with port putty? can i make an a12 head into an a15 oval port head? i do have access to a flow bench so all is good.
i assume that all is interchangeable because they are both a series
thanks for any help

So you got a 15 bottom end? if it were a 14 you'd have to relieve some of the block to use the 15 crankshaft and rods for starters. Then the piston height would be wrong I spose. The timing case and gear should work on all the later motors, the rocker gear and pushrods are a little different to suit the 14 and 15 blocks. the easy bits obviously work too like the mounts, alternator, water pump, tappet cover.

edit: forgot about the fuel pump, the oil pump runs off a cog on the camshaft so that's find but the fuel pump has different angled levers for the different motors. That one really annoyed me when I broke my fuel pump late one night trying to reassemble the dunger motor

In what way LDO?

You might be able to use Main caps from another motor, but I'd say you'll need to have block align bored to ensure the bearing journals in the block are the right size and shape.

push rods are 10mm longer to account for 10mm higher block

get the right head and save the drama, it will run heaps better anyway... almost like it was designed that way....!

sorry guys should have told you it will be a race motor, so all machine work, crack testing and head work are being done no expense spared.
ive got a A15 block which im building, and i dont have all the parts i require.
so i have a full A12 out of a vanette sitting there so i thought the crank caps, head, timing cover, and random bits could be used
cheers
