Hi guys,
I have a 1980 1200 ute with an A15 engine and 4spd gearbox. Both box and diff are sounding very unhealthy and need replacement. I live in Darwin and do a fair bit of distance driving for work so would like to replace these with a 5spd. dont have time to chop and change to fit one so was hoping someone has a good box tailshaft and diff that i could bolt in. Cost and freight are not an issue and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

tailshaft and diff are exactly the same for a 4-speed and 5-speed (unless you got the rare 'big boy' 63-series 5-speed). So you just need a Sunny gearbox and new diff center.

Or do you mean the axle bearings are making noise? These Datsun rear axle assemblies are tough. Usually if they are noisy, top up the diff lube, and repack the wheel bearings and they'll last forever. Should get quieter too, but even noisy units generally last forever when properly lubricated.
