There are more than a few that I have seen but can't remember, but I was just curious to know who knows of a great car movie. Also has anyone seen the movie Banzai Runner? Crap or good. I got it from the $2 bin at the warehouse.

My favorites

Mad Max
Mad Max 2 (3 can go get rooted)
Running on Empty. (Australian)
Midnight spares
Hot Rod. Nothing beats a hemi willys.
Funnycar Summer
California Kid
Bullitt
Vanishing Point (and the remake)
Death Race 2000
Cannonball (origional with David Carrodine)

Heaps more I know. Anyone have any favorites?

driven is a good movie, story line isn't the best but i love the scene where they take two of the brand new indy cars for a thrash through the streets, wouldn't you just love o do that?

I like cannonball fever or as it's known elsewhere, Speedzone. Others I like that you may not have mentioned:

- Fast and furious series (seriously I can understand and accept the storylines:P)
- Le mans
- Initial D live action movie
- origional and remake gone in sixty seconds

A coupe of bike ones:

Biker boyz (way better than torque because it's just more belivable. Torque let me down when they start riding near trains and the end of the movie)

easy rider- not bad but the ending made me angry

haven't seen stone yet so can't say anything about that

worlds fastest indian - yep just great

but yeah i'm sure there's more i haven't mentioned like landspeed with Billy Zane, again not all that bad for a cheap movie

edit: just thought American Graffitti is almost a car movie i spose

* The Fast and the Furious is the best except for one flaw, no Datsun 1200s.
* The Gumball Rally (look for the Datsun 1200s!)
* Gone in 60 Seconds (original, 1974, look for Datsun 1200s!)
* The Junkman. Not sure if it's great car movie or a bad one. But it's definitely a Car Movie. Also it has Datsun 1200s.
* And don't forget Cars, the recent Pixar movie. Some say the best Car Movie ever made ... !?!

yeah for driving scenes the initial d live movie was awesome. story line got a bit weird though.

wasn't biker boyz the one where they were obsessed with the whole tunnel vision thing?

worlds fastest indian is great too though.

gone in 60seconds is a good movie,

fast and the furious made turbo's fashionable and illegal drag races even more popular, and all the posers came out of the woodworks.

Oh yes Duel. Spielberg's first full-length movie. It was a good one.

That reminds me of bad 1970s car movies:
* Convoy (trucker movie)
* Smokey and the Bandit (or was that a good one?)
* Corvette Summer (bad movie, cool idea). Mark Hamill's 2nd movie.
