I'm guessing a previous owner converted it to automatic.

JDM ute catalog does not list an auto, and didn't get disk brakes until 1989. Did RoadStar/SportStar out of new zealand have autos? They had a lot of options.

Technically,i did not "own" it,it was a company supplied 7 day a week drive car for me.I had to pick it up from a Nissan dealer in Moorabbin-Melbourne and it was new,i don't remember seeing any odd plates under bonnet, but then i was'nt all that interested at the time as it was just another 1200 and Melbourne was teeming with them back then, plus i wanted a manual anyway!Time frame would have been late 85' for memory.
Had a T bar much the same as a 120Y in the usual 1200 black plastic console, plus the disc brakes which i assumed was an automatic thing at the time.
I had the vehicle for about 2 years before moving to another job,and since then had seen only two others both in Melbourne.
One of the 2 i spotted at Fowles Auctions, perhaps i should have grabbed it,might have been worth a dollar or two now,but if i'd have bought everything i liked over the years i'd have needed a shed like Lindsay Fox
