Just aquired a ute diff today and i assume the mounts have to be re-welded to suit the 1000 2-door springs? any tips or tricks?

Also what tailshaft is needed? a ute tailshaft? even though i'll probably have to get a custom one made up to suit the celica 5-speed.

Anyone got a pic of a ute diff(H165) installed in a 1000?

make up a jig to hold it in place and tack weld the diff in so it cant move best to have it so the leaf spring face is level
now find the centre of the diff and measure to the centre of the leaf spring mounts on the h145
now cut the h165 mounts off and measure from the centre of the diff and then move the mounts in till its the same as the measurent that the h145 was and tack it a few times then weld just make sure both the spring mounts are level to each other
that how i had done mine worked perfectly
and get the ute diff tailshaft

id figure out how far the mounts need to come in, then mark where the side of the mount should be sitting on the diff

put the diff in the car with the mounts sitting on the leaves and the diff sitting on them lined up with the marks you made, then do the u bolts up but not quite all the way. have the car sitting on stands obviously

the once the diff is sorta bolted up jack it up to around about the normal ride height, so the jack will be taking most of the weight rather then the stands

set the pinion angle up and then tack the mounts in place. then double check that everything is right and that the mounts are both the same distance in from the sides as each other. if its all good then pull the diff out and fully weld the mounts
