Hey guys,
On sunday afternoon I was just going for a cruise (as we do, lol), and I guess I was pushing it a bit too hard. Anyways I was just driving along when a weird sort of noise started coming from the front end of the car. It's a really hard sound to describe, and I need to investigate it futher, but it kinda sounds like some loose peice of metal clunking around.
Anyways I drive her home, she seems to drive normal. And I rev it up in the driveway and the noise doesn't repeat, so I take her for a drive, it goes fine for about 200 metres then it makes the sound again, and I put the clutch in and roll and the sound stops.
If I had to guess, I would say that if I was sitting on the gear stick looking forward, the sound seems to be coming anywhere from 90 to 180 degrees of that point, so somewhere near the bottom of the engine or the flywheel or clutch or transmission etc.
I'll have to investigate it more, I was thinking of doing a drive of shame to the mechanics tomorrow afternoon, but I'd love to hear your guys speculations. Cheers.
Oh of course, it's a B120 1980 Australian Datsun Ute. 5 speed with Extractors, the rest stock. Recently had the head redone.
Thanks so much.
