Just thought I'd vent a bit of anger about the wrx day friends and me attended on the weekend. Firstly the weather was average in the morning and our first sessions were a bit greasy since there had been a heavy downpoor overnight taking all the rubber off the track.

I got placed in the driver training group for whatever reason so I went and argued with race control that I didn't want to be held up and they smugly told me that I probably wouldn't keep up with stock wrx's with the first time drivers having training anyway! It worked out in my favour in the end because I drove past the 5 cars in front of me on my outlap which meant I had clear track for the next 3 laps.

My second session was in the wet and in a powerful rear drive datsun with a locked diff and well worn semi's it was nothing short of terrifying trying to keep it on the track!

Later in the day one of my mate's came off and damaged his MR2 fairly heavily which put a real downer on the day. It was his first time out on the track so I don't know if he'll ever make it back! Atleast he's ok. Some clown had a poorly mounted oil cooler which got snagged on something and dropped oil around the complete track causing the MR2 and another WRX to come off. The wrx was completely written off and the driver was lucky to walk away.

The day had its hold ups but that wrx club are so disorganised sometimes I think they may have detered me from doing anymore days with them. I would not have got my 3rd sessio in until nearly 4 in the afternoon by which time I was too busy getting the MR2 onto a trailer and off the premises before they locked us out!

All issues aside I set a new PB by 4 seconds with a 2:01.5 which my 3rd lap out of the day and I'm sure it's got a 1:59 in it as is. Here's a pic on the way out of siberia.

bummer 017 on the track, I would have thought they wouldn't allow low-mounted oil coolers, or oil hoses that hang down.

Average weather is better than freezing cold wind, but it sounds like the wrecks cooled off the fun

Well done spotting the rims while moving! yeah the weather probably did give it a bit more poke.

dd - The scrutineering is not that tough, they give me a hard time because the car is old but the car that actually dropped the oil was a late model R34 skyline which breezes through because it's so new.

Your supposed to blame oil leaks on other brands of cars

Any where that I can find spec's of your car? looks real nice, keen to see what suspension and drive line your running.

yeah i would love to know how you got that much camber on the fronts, im looking at going back to stanza ball joints, these 120y ones although reducing track make the neg camber rubbish.

Rezlo - The car has stanza struts cut down for a 240z inserts and adjustable height platforms with camber tops. The rear is just a reset stock leaf with an extra leaf added with koni shocks. It's got extended lower control arms for more camber (unfam) and extra caster. Front brakes are 60 series landcruiser and in the rear I've got an R31 28-spline diff with mini-spool centre and corresponding brakes.

Engine is a pretty standard CA18 turbo with somewhere around 140-150kw at the wheels. Not big numbers but once you have that sort of power I believe the best bang for buck is doing suspension and brake mods when searching for track times.

in such a small light car i couldnt agree more with your ideas, especially after seeing boofs little a12, handles great and with only that a12... it shows its not always about power.

what lcas did you mod? or buy? i saw the maddat ones but $$$

Not sure about the part number for the koni's but they came out of a coupe. Since I've got them mounted vertically rather than 45 degreees they are probably a bit stiff.
