Hilux parker problem.

Hey guys,
I drive a Hilux cab/chassis as a daily and a month ago the parkers have started to come on when the brake is applied. It was intermittent but is now happening flat out..
I have scratched around where the tail lights mount to the tray as thought they may not be earthed well enough, but it hasn't done jack.
My next thought is to pull the lights apart with a grounded lead and probe, and try each earth for resistance etc.

Any ideas other than this, I'm assuming it is an earthing issue still. All globes were replaced not long ago..

Tail lights on cab chassis utes, ie the light pods are mounted to a tray and exposed to the elements are always a pain.

I would check to make sure that the wires leading to the lights themselves are fine first. Elimiate that. It could be the connecting plug. They always collect dirt and cause shorts/bad earths.

It probally is a bad earth cause my dirt buildup. In all honesty, I would ditch the standard setups for a combo led unit. Sealed and never blow another globe. You can get the cheaper units now for less than 30 bucks a side. Cheap and easy fix really. There is a reason why in the mining industry they dont even bother with the standard light pods from new. They get changed out straight away with led units.

replace you tail/stop globes and see if that helps, could be shorting across the globe

^^^ Yep, simple enough fix.
The whole stalk that holds the filament had melted and become quite a bit shorter than the other side! The bit that had melted had built up at the bottom and shorted out.. Never seen that happen before!

To make sure it won't happen again I took reuby's advice & upgraded to led's. :)
