AS THE TITLE READS I HAVE A FULLY RACE PREPARED A15 WITH ALL THE GOOD BITS INCLUDING HEADERS , CAM , TWIN 45 WEBBERS ETC ETC HAS DONE VERY LITTLE SINCE BIULT ....
LOOKING FOR EOI AS I AM STILL HALF HEARTED ABOUT PARTING WITH THE MOTOR BUT THE 1000 SPORTS SEDAN IS A WHILE AWAY FROM BEING OUT ON THE TRACK.
I HAVE A RECEIPT FOR THE REBUILD FOR OVER $4K AND THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE COST OF WEEBERS/MANIFOLD , HEADERS , CAM , HEAD ETC , SO I WILL NOT BE GIVING IT AWAY AND NO SILLY OFFERS PLEASE
THANK YOU

What sort of money are you after? I wouldn't mind a motor for the van that is ready to go but if it is for stupid money... Who built the engine and do you have a more specific parts list.

i do have a detailed spec list and the motor was built by a race engine builder , i wont disclose the company name on the forum for obvious reasons , but would be happy to supply all details and receipt to purchaser ,
it is a EOI at this stage so looking for offers ...... keeping in mind it is a fresh engine with all the hang ons

Would be very nice to have such an engine You have to go through the process of modifying and properly rebuilding an engine yourself to understand the honest costs.

Ah,hairylemon,it would appear you have no idea the costs involved in building(if you have the knowledge)or having built a A15 able to generate even close to 136 r/w h.p.
Even at mates rates a knowlegable spanner will cost you $500 per day and he will spend at least 2 days working an engine up. Then we have the host of machining that is involved and the costs associated,if you don't believe me try ringing around and asking a few questions on machining costs, pushing pistons on and off rods etc. etc. We are yet to buy all the internal bits yet,new pistons, and they won't be the poxey deep dish A15 standard jobbies.Rings, big end and main bearings over sized to match the machined crank journals, seals, gaskets,a purpose built Wilkins head gasket at about $150.00 and we hav'nt even thought about buying a base head and spending another grand or so on it,remember where looking for over 120HP at the treads. Few casual observers have any idea of the costs involved in building engines and components for use in competition and i would rarely comment on someones inexperianced comments, but on this occasion i would think that $4000.00 in reciepts is easily achievable and worth every cent given the dyno figures. You do the maths. Cheers Bert

hairylemon im building quite a substantially powerful street turbo a14 ive spent close to 2k already on just bits and ive only bought the head engine and rockers (mind you it is a gx head and yella terra rockers) and i havent even bought the turbo or computer or pistons or even started machining stuff!!! i cant expect nearly another 4k in turbo computer and pistons engine building is a very expensive game

yeah if i had a race 1200 at the moment id jump on it.... i cost me just 4k just to do wiring and setup including dyno time my SR20 with quads with the autronic!!! And I got a bloody great price... The cost of the quads and ECU and engine was separate....ah I do love webers....

thats pretty impressive power
but yeah to give an idea of the cost involved in building an engine, my 95rwkw (127rwhp) L18 stroker cost someone over $7000 to build a couple of years ago, and theres an L20b on ozdat at the moment with 97rwkw that cost over $10000 to build and to get the same power from a 1.5 litre engine as opposed to a 2 litre would make it a fair bit more expensive i would imagine even my brothers mild 308 fully rebuilt bottom end has cost him a couple of grand at mates rates
