hello

i have nearly pieced together all the parts for the auto-man conversion in the y
the only thing holding me back is tailshaft

im running a borg warner rear and it just so happens that tail shafts to fit manual are becoming hard to find

now to my understanding the u joints cant be taken apart and fittings, flanges interchanged etc,
can this be confirmed?
the reason i ask is because i have an auto, BW tailshaft and have access to manual, JAP tailshaft

i have access to a few diferent tailshafts to fit early corollas, coronas etc running bor warner rear but just cant seem to find what im after

any information goes a long way and is greatly appreciated
Cheers
Jason

Naw it doesn't work that way. With some shafts, a driveshaft shop may be able to cut and weld the parts, then rebalance the assembly. But with many shafts this is not even possible.

Yeah you can get a whole new tail shaft made up for around $500. My tail shaft in my ute had non replaceable uni's so i just got one made up. If you end up doing a uni joint id have to make a whole new shaft anyways... So was better off just makin a new one. And yeah they have to be balanced or it could get real out of hand

I run a Ford diff (blasphemy I know!) in my racecar - was the best way to get ratios and LSD at the time. "English" type and in my case from a Mk2 Cortina - I think it has the smaller diametre flange vs say Ford Escort? Sunny B310 driveshaft / flange bolts up with no modification at all.
