i dont think there will be a huge drop in engine life sumith, but it would put extra load on the engine, so it probably would shorten the life of the engine, but with the humble a series engine you wouldnt need to rebuild it in our life time

Hi Woody

Nice to Hear that , i have Got A12s came with AC , i have got everything except an working AC compressor on it, if you connect the Belt to the AC pulley , it has to turn the compressor even though i put the the Ac on or not ,is it ?

Thanks

hi sumith
i think when you have a belt running to your ac compressor but your ac system isnt turned on,, the compressor isnt drawing any power because they use a clutch system, (same as a belt driven fan with a termostat)

Correct me if im wrong

This will sound like I'm on drugs, but it might actually extend engine life. At very very very low load (idle, in heavy gridlocked traffic) rings aren't pushed out against the bore well (since it's mostly combustion pressure that does it, and at idle this is very low) and they can undergo a phenomenon called 'ring flutter' where they basically just twitch about and it causes them to wear particularly quickly (among one of the many reasons that stop-start traffic is actually severe wear and tear for an engine and long distance highway cruising is actually easy on an engine). If the a/c compressor has enough 'drag' when on, then it is usually combined with a solenoid that opens the throttle a little bit to increase/retain the idle rpm. This might be enough to increase oil splash to things like the bore walls and the cam lobes, and enough to reduce idle related ring flutter. So it actually might not reduce engine life at all! It might even extend it just a little.
