SMOKE COMING OUT OF EXHAUST...

Hi i own a 72 model 1200 sedan, its running a ca18 and has had alot done to it. The other week i had a new gear box put in and iam still wearing it in. When i give it some it is sweet but when i stop or slow down after giving it a bit smoke seems to be coming out the back not to sure what it is any help would be great. cheers

Depends on what color the smoke is. Black? White? Bluish white?

its a white ish smoke. comes and goes but like i said when i give it some then stop at a set of lights or something i see this smoke comin past me, is bit embarassing. any help is great. cheers

well if it's just white then it should be water, like steam. blue indicates oil smoke and black is fuel, like when you run it too rich. so the colour is very helpful in finding the problem.

just took it for a drive, blowin black smoke smells like fuel. maybe runnin rich????

Black smoke is either 1) running too rich or 2) bad ignition (partially burned fuel).

cheers for your help, its winter now so its ready for a new tune. will see if that makes a difference. if bad ignition any suggestions?

With a CA18, you shouldn't have to do "a tune". There is no points to set, timing shouldn't change, and no carburetor.

Something is else wrong, sensor gone bad or something. Perhaps the engine has been modified or is missing some sensors.

you running a after market ecu ? could be the tune is safe and a bit rich ( fairly normaly )

could be the carbon canister getting over loaded

could need new plugs as the old ones arnt bruning all the fuel
