Guys,
I've finally found another 1200 ute, a 1978 roller with a great body that looks like it had CA it it previously using Maddat components. - It's got big boosted brakes & the hyd clutch already done. It's got TRX rims, Body is rust free & the tunnel has had some work but can do with a tidy up. - It's got a bare crossmember in it already, stipped of all mounts and Ive got a complete stock A15 drive line there, and Ive also got a stong L20b & skyline stumpy 5 speed that I eventually want to go in it.
- The question is, do you think I should put the A series in to for rego purposes, or just go straight a head with the L-series swap? - Also, I suck with awelder & I'd kill for a good L20b to 1200 cross member, so If anyone has one please, keep me in mind! - Unlike the last project, this one has a budget, see If I can get the whole thing done for under $5k

Maybe put your location in your profile. Cant weld either but all i did is mock things up and use real small screws where possible to put things in place then got someone to weld it all up. The thing with putting the A15 in is it will be possible (Or Fluke) to rego with the A15 but worse case scenario they tell you to engineer it as its a fair bit over the limit in most states 16%. Then for all that time spent you may as well just try and fluke an L20b through. Either way by law you have to Engineer an Honest A15 or L20b in NSW. Even an A14 Trust me i tried and that was at a mates workshop.

Im in Mildura, Vic. - Last ute i did was a CA18det. Not interested in doing it again. - Although, I do have a spare CA18DE in the shed... DatsAndy, yours is L20B? How did you do your crossmember??

Ive got a stocker A12 here too, but it needs a rebuild...
