After months of (slowly) building up my A14 finaly came the time to turn it on. I wasn`t expecting firing up at first attemp but now after a few tries it didn`t start yet. I think the problem is electrical, and the current is not reaching the spark plugs. I made a few modifications concerning the electrical parts:

Alternator: internally regulated one with the jumper wire "trick".

Distributor: Electronic dizzy (Mal`s dizzy).

My suspect is the dizzy because the original wiring loom in my 120y got a wire that now is no longer needed in this dizzy, i onlu connected the two wires of the distributor to the positive and negative side of the coil and left this wire unpluged. Could this be the reason?? where do connect this wire now.

Thanks in advance for all!!

I remember having trouble first time starting my A14 too - I used the troubleshooting guide (now in the wiki) it was a great help - narrowed it down to dizzy.

It's really good at ruling out potential problems.

Ok, now i made some progress. The engine is now sounding more like an engine, the energy is reaching the plugs now, but i`m now having another problem. The engines is A14 but the carb is from a A15, and it seams like the carb is floding the engine, is there any way to reduce the quantitie of fuel?

So you solve the starting problem? It is now starting?

A15 carburetor will run just fine on A14. But as with any carburetor you need to adjust the idle speed and mixture. Just follow the standard procedure in your repair manual. You can use the very same steps as for A12 carburetor.

2 things to remember

1. did you get the spark plug lead order right?
2. is the basic timing in range?
