Hi guys,
I plan to do carb balancing using one of those DIY fluid manometer. I've found quite a few on the net, something like this Marty Igzanito DIY Manometer PDF with Pics http://www.zivney.net/library/carbsync.pdf and his Web version with only 1 pic http://www.powerchutes.com/manometer.asp.

I believe I can build the manometer, but I have one big problem. Where do I connect the 2 ends of the manometer tube? I've been searching high and low in the net, but so far I couldn't find any that shows me how to do it. Some indicate that the manometer needs to be connected to the carb vacuum ports but where the heck is this vacuum port? My carb model is Mikuni Solex 40PHH.

And if the carb itself doesn't in balance..how do i balance it?

Thanks in advance.

You will use it with twin carburetors. If you have a single 40PHH there is nothing to synchronize.

I've never used one, don't you just stick the hose down the carburtor throat?

Most use something called Uni-Syn.

on motocycle carbs the hav an actual plug to put them on with a vacume signal. I recon on a weber style carb you will need a taperd plug to sit in the mouth of the carb?

if you dont want to go to too much trouble, just put one end of a vacuum hose in your ear and the other end into the throat of the carb, it's hard to explain but the pitch of the sound you'll hear will differ if the carbs are not synch'd, just adjust one till it sounds like the other.
with a bit of practice you'll get it exceptionally close to perfect.
