Where are you?
Sr20DE or Sr20DET

SR20DE - No probs in any state and will depend on other mods that may need to be certified. $500 - $2000

SR20DET - Will probally not happen.

I know that I have asked this question before but what is the story with certifications? Here in the states, we can put what ever we want in a car. If the car is still under emissions testing, as long as it passes, they don't care. If it don't pass, you just register it outside of an emissions area.
Being a Datsun 1200, no emissons is required. I could drop a V8 in it and get it registered for street driving no questions asked. If I get pulled over for speeding or something, I get a ticket and the cops may ask whats under the hood and think that its cool to drop a small block into such a small car. Could be a big block?
So whats with all the regulations?

They have power to weight restrictions here in aus... It is a pain in the ass, but you can still build a pretty quick car. For an origional 4 cylinder car it's 2.5 x the origional weight of the car for your max cc turbo or supercharged. And it's 3 x the origional weight for a n/a car. And then there's all other sorts of rules to go along with them. Ohh and these rules are only for when doing an engine conversion

You'll need disc brakes on the fronts and i think you need a duel master cylinder. Best off to speak to an engineer and get the info from him... They'll know all the ins and outs
