hello all, I just joined, I need help finding a part for our 1960 datsun 1200 pick up plg222 model 48hp, the crankshaft broke in half, need help to find a replacement. Does anyone know if a 1959-1962 E or E1 engine would have the same crankshaft, I know h.p for these years is 37 / 48 / 60 h.p. any assistance would be great...

Hi Bob, for the old truck 1200s, try http://ratsun.net. There are some members there than have the trucks, old Bluebirds, and occasionally E12 engines.

Thanks, I did go there and post for assistance, I am trying to get help from everywhere I can on the internet. At the same time I am trying to educate myself as much as I can with the help from all of you. This truck is my dads truck that he drove daily and unfortunatley he has had no success finding the part, so I am now trying to help him through the wonders of the internet try to find him the crankshaft out there so he can put the engine back together and get it back on the road.

Yes unfortunately we know little about the 1/2 ton trucks. Our specialty is 1970-up Datsun 1200 unibodys.

Thanks to everybody for the valuable information, I have the serial numbers now the plate reads 1960 PLG 222-0-00228 , the engine number of the block & plate is E05294, 48HP 1189cc, I also took the numbers off the crankshaft reads 1-1<>1220104040 . I appreciate all the assistance.
