Hey All,

Just wanted to know whether a set of extractors from an a14/15 would fit onto an a12 and what difficulties, if any, would be encountered.

Also just wanting to know if anyone has tried to fit a set of extractors from a 1200 onto a 120y and again, what issues, if any, would be encountered.

Desperately wanna put some extractors onto my 120y but don't wanna pay for a new set and the only second hand ones i can fins are either a12 ones from a 1200 or a14/15 from a 12oy or 1200.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers
Trav

pretty sure the A14-A15 extractors will fit the A12. As for 1200 into 120y, not sure.

The 14\15 ones will be my bet, as they were meant for the taller block and they used the same crossmember. I was playing around with this the other day as I have an A14 4-2-1 2 inch set of extractors I fitted up and an a 120Y 4-1 2 inch set. The A14 one was originally in a B310 sedan and I found it odd that it only just cleared the firewall of the Y when i was using the engine mounts that came with the motor the pipes belonged to.

Another thing to consider is what induction was on each motor that had the pipes? the 120y one of mine had standard inlet manifold with 32\36 as did the A14 one. I couldn't use the A14 on an A12 now unless I'm using an oval port head.
I could put up some pics of my findings if you like.

Here in NZ we have the exhaust brand "Wolf". They made (make?) 2 types of extractors for A series:
1. Single carb - tubes 2&3 go under 1&4 (relatively tight bend down to get under the inlet manifold.
2. Twin carb - tubes 2&3 go over 1&4 (and look like they'd flow better).
(Coby brand may be the same?)

I'd be checking this aspect more so than whether A12/A14/A15.

Hmmm yes yes yes.

Ok thanks everyone. I understand the whole twin carb and single carb thing. Shouldn't be an issue there.

I'm just wondering about it clearing the firewall. The a14 head obviosuly sits higher but i think that should be offset by the engine mounts on the 120y. So i don't think i will have an issue there.

I think a bigger issue for me will be if i find a set for an a12 from a 1200. May sit too low at the flange.

Oh well i guess i will just see what pops up and deal with any issues when i get them. I can always just re sell them if they don't fit i guess.

Thanks again
Trav
