i cannot start my engine - this is after putting the head back on, after replacing 2 valves.
I have fuel, and spark.i think the firing order is right, but am not sure. from front to back, the order is 1243 correct? or is it 1423 as a mechanic friend said last night? which
lead is which on the dizzy? is 1 the lead closest to the drivers side (right) headlight?
I took the rocker cover off and all valves are moving nicely too.
What could the problem be?
help.

linc.

you might have an air leak in your intake manifold
as for the firing order, 1200, i'm looking at the cap from the front of the car. the closest plug which is directly over the vac advance goes to the third plug back from the front. the
next wire(going clockwise), is directly over the left cap clamp. it goes to the first plug in front. the wire at the rear of the cap closest to the fire wall goes to the second plug
from the front. the last wire is directly over the right cap clamp. It goes to the plug in the back by the firewall.
I hope this helps. If you get the wires right, I think it might be a vacume leak.
Frank.

The firing order on the A-series is 1-3-4-2 (i'm pretty sure). i had a prob, last week where the dat was only running on 3 pots. checked spark, it was all good, had fuel, etc. had me
stumped for hours... though *stuff it* i'll just have a look at the valves (after realising sumthin' funny was goin on with the compresion on No 2. cylinder, and found my problem... snapped
push rod... DAMN! just gotta get 'nother one but i dont think wreckers will like me stuffing up a good engine for 1 pushrod, so i may buy a complete engine!

haha, linc, you make me laugh =)

Is it a new engine? Coz i just got my A14 in as well about a week ago, and new 2 inch exhaust with sports muffler. Go's good now =)

Take it for a bash up in the hills man, thats the best way. Try not to keep constant revs, and dont use synthetic oil! Go buy some cheapo shit from Bi-Lo, thats what i
did =)

Have fun dude, i know i am! Havent run mine in yet, and i'm pissing on every other car on the road. My latest victory, is a 2-door convertible kompressor (mercedes?).
fun fun fun

Just dont kill it! hehe

Cya dude

your lucky the dude in the merc didnt know you were racing him eh :) those cars are fearsome beasts turbo charged by one of their aftermarket compianies as standard, AMG i think though
im not sure :) quad carbs, built engine, and a 2 stage supercharger unit with (dare i say it?) fanta injection... should do it :) keep up the work though bro! show your engine who its
daddy is!

AMG don't use the turbo's on their cars.
They opt to use superchargers on there engines including V6's and V8's. The 3.2L (I think not sure on capacity) V6 puts out around 260kW.

With respect to the 2 stage supercharger unit, There was a race car in the 1950's developing about 600hp with 81psi with one of these units. The engineer calculated that at
that boost the inlet valves were actually being forced open by the pressure and therefore they changed valve springs. Remember this was in the 1950's.

This car made a come back in recent years at the opening of one the European F1 tracks and was developing an estimated 700 ponies. Not bad for a 1.5L engine at 11 000rpm.
You should here the thing. Sure it isn't 20 000+ rpm like todays F1's but those superchargers sound sweet.

I hope everybody has learn't something new today.

Glenn
