can someone please tell me the engines possible to put in a datto 1200 ute, with the least amount of effort. i know A15's go straight in, but what i'd really love to do is put a 1300 turbo out of a starlet in it. the older starlets were rear wheel drive aswell. i've heard of a crowd in ozzy that drop fiat engines in them with turbos and run 9sec quarters, a lot of work i'd say! i want somethin i can keep the orig gearbox with, and not have to touch anything structural. any help would be appreciated thanx

There are a variety of engines that will fit in the 1200 engine bay but you want the least amount of effort AND the original gearbox so you are really only looking at the A series. A few posts ago a ute man mentioned he might have some parts for sale after assisting the braking effort of a car behind him. You could also slowly add carbs, extractors, headwork etc to your A12 as $$ dictates. A worked A12 in a ute is nothing to get a new box of Kleenex over.

as teretonga said, a ute man will be selling some parts after a rear ednder into him. i am that ute man. the A15 i have in my ute went straight in. weapon of a motor. all i had on it was twin factory SU's, very very mild cam, GX exhaust manifold, with a 1 3/4 exhaust, and still smacked V6 commodores. i got quoted for an engine rebuild that would have it smacking mildly worked V8's it'll most likely be for sale shortly Justin

This is what i've done before, toyota 4age with sidedrafts, all you have to do is to build your own enginemountings, gearbox is from a toyota trd. -Got stolen. Second one- 4agze , loose the chareger, build a turbo manilfold, t3/t4 with microtech ecu, will be running in the new year, at least 12 sec and 200kw.
