depends on how much boost you want to run...

people have done 10psi and not had problems, I'd think it was the limit.. 6-8 would be better..

You are not decompressing.
What you are doing is reducing the compression ratio.
You need to check that your engine head isn't actually modified. A few millimeters milled off the head can dramatically affect the compression ratio. You can't check that the head hasn't been milled by simply looking at it.

yes and no, an easy and cost effective way to de-compree and engine is run a shim plate between the engine block and head gasket it lowers the compression slightly so more boost can be acheived.
But in no way is it as good as getting decompressed pistons and other mods to the head to lower the compression, but if its only for a daily driver i would be overly concerned about it, a stock engine will handle 8-10psi no worries, as long as you're not after a high horse power motor, but it will make commodore drivers look twice! thats for sure!!!!!!
Just out of curiosity, is it a blow through set-up or a suck through set up?

It's Jakes's old kit. Blow through 32/36 with FMIC.
Don't use the term 'de-compress' it's incorrect and confusing.
Dished pistons are the way to go, along with the big chamber H72(?) heads.
Michael, The turbo is wound up for 14psi, I think. If you slap this kit on without checking your comp ratio and it explodes. Don't say I didn't warn you. Pull the head of CC the chambers and do your math.

Yeah Steveo,
Michael bought it. Tell me one thing Stevo is the boost controlled by adjusting the waste-gate actuator? I reckon Jake said this was set for 14psi or maybe he meant it could push that much.
I reckon to could take it to 14psi with an 8:1 comp ratio.
